The athletes ranking at the first three places in the competitions of the
next World Championships of the Val di Fiemme will not only receive the
medals awarded by F.I.S., but also a wooden sculpture, like that shown in
the photograph, awarded by the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme.
A special kind of harmonic red fir grows in the Val di Fiemme and it is
employed to realise violins and pianos. It is a wood with special features
and it is highly appreciated all over the world.
This is also the explanation of the “magic” relationship between
the valley and the world of music. Thanks to concerts, orchestras and musical
events, the melodious sounds originated by the secular red firs forming
the “Forest of Violins” of the Val di Fiemme, growing close
to the cross-country skiing tracks of Lago di Tesero and the jumping hills
of Predazzo, resound all over the world.
During the world championships there will be concerts made with violins
realised by Stradivarius and pianos made with the harmonic wood of the Val
di Fiemme.
