ENVIRONMENTAL
MANAGEMENT |
| |
|
The FIS Nordic Ski WM Val di Fiemme 2003
are the first eco-certified event at world level.
The Val di Fiemme is a point of reference for cross-country skiing.
|
|
Generally speaking, important events have a
great environmental impact that alters, temporarily or permanently,
the balance of the place that hosts them. This will not be case
of the Nordic Ski World Championships of Val di Fiemme, thanks to
a system of environmental |
 |
|
| management
that will help the organising committee
to prevent, manage and improve the environmental impact of the
sporting event of 2003. For the implementation of
this project the organising committee can count on the collaboration of
the Neotron Qualità S.r.l. a specialised counselling board, which
will help it to implement a system of environmental management in compliance
with the international UNI EN ISO 14001 regulation. More specifically,
the project involves the assessment of the most important impacts caused
by the world championships and the study of preventive and corrective
measures to be taken. |
 |
In
this sense, the separate collection of rubbish will be enhanced
during the event and the level of electromagnetic pollution caused
by antennas and radio links will be constantly monitored. Great
attention will be attached to the reduction of atmospheric emissions
caused by transportation |
|
| means
employed for the hospitality and to the use and optimisation
of resources, raw materials and energy in the management of offices. For
this reason, only recyclable materials will be employed for all the activities
concerning the promotion of the event. Negative impacts
on the local flora and fauna of the areas where the events are going to
be held will be reduced, |
| and the resources and
raw materials employed for the realisation of temporary infrastructures
will be carefully selected, with a view to guarantee the best environmental
management. The infrastructures will actually enhance the natural
resources of the valley
and the impact of mobile and semi-fixed structures
will be kept to the minimum. |
 |
|
The organising committee will
then endeavour to disseminate an environmentally friendly attitude among
the inhabitants and to favour a balanced management of the event by the
people involved, in order to foster an environmental culture that will
be part of the heritage of the valley also after the world championships.
The project of environmental management is undoubtedly an innovative factor
and this is the first time that an organising committee of sporting events
achieves such an important goal, as the environmental certification. A
step that confirms, once again, the intention of the organising committee
to turn the world championships into a growth and development factor for
the Val di Fiemme, whilst respecting and enhancing its natural characteristics. |
