The problem of road traffic is one of the most compelling
for the organising committee of the Nordic Ski World Championships of Fiemme
2003. For this reason it carefully studied and implemented a plan in order
to guarantee effective links from one place to the other and to reduce to
the minimum the circulation of cars and the time spent on the roads for
the teams, the fans and the people involved in the organization. All roads
will be open to the public with the exception of a few minor roads and the
centre of Cavalese during the prize-giving ceremonies. The teams and journalists
will have at their disposal reserved routes that will notably reduce the
time needed to move from one place to the other, thus avoiding the major
roads that will probably be congested. For journalists and photographers,
however, the easiest way to move is undoubtedly represented by the free
shuttle service, with buses continuously going to and from the racing fields
of Lago di Tesero and Predazzo and the Press Centre of Cavalese. For the
press conferences of the winners, which will be rigorously made at the Press
Centre in Cavalese, journalists will have a reserved bus that will move
together with the shuttle used by the skiers, thus guaranteeing the presence
of everybody without delays. The use of private cars is therefore not recommended,
especially considering that there will be frequent connections, guaranteed
by the shuttle service. Near the jumping stadium and the cross-country skiing
centre there will be however reserved parking areas for journalists and
TV operators, only a few hundreds of metres away from the tracks. Should
the place in the reserved areas at the jumping stadium of Predazzo not be
enough, cars can be parked either in the centre of Predazzo or in Forno
near Moena. From these areas the stadium can be reached thanks to a shuttle
service that links them to the stadium. As far as the public is concerned
, the fans will have the opportunity to go near the stadium only on foot,
whilst the athletes and the trainers will use a reserved road.
